For connection to 3 4 mpt the length of the pipe from the finished wall must not be longer than 1 1 2 or less than 5 8.
Slip on tub spout pipe length.
The pipe must extend at least 1 3 4 minimum to 2 1 2 maximum from the wall.
Total the two and add 1 4 inch.
For connection to 1 2 nominal 5 8 od copper pipe the length of the pipe must be a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 2 from the wall.

Refer to the manufacturer s specifications prior to purchasing and installing to ensure you have the appropriate length for your spout.
Check to make sure the pipe coming from the wall is the correct size.
Then measure the distance from the surface of the wall to the back of the threaded elbow inside the wall.
Anyway by altering the length of the nipple one can use any size spout that s available.
The result is the overall length of the pipe you need.
Measure the length of your tub spout from the back edge of the spout to the front where the threads start on the inside of the spout.
For slip on tub spouts your copper pipe should be a minimum 1 and a maximum 2 7 8 in length depending on the tub spout.
A diverter tub spout will have a lift rod that you pull up and push down on to divert the water between the showerhead and tub spout.
This tub spout is designed to be installed on a 1 2 inch pipe slip fit cc connection.
